Polytec LLC develops, manufacturers and markets test and measurement instruments. The majority of the equipment are laser Doppler vibrometers for measuring surface features or periodic vibrations. The various markets include the computer hard disk drive market, machine tools, semiconductor wafers, fiberoptic component materials, spindles and instruments to measure the dynamics of turbines, rotors and shafts. The company's goal is to develop, support and provide cutting edge systems to the test, measurement, process control and manufacturing environments. The equipment is designed to provide ease of use and the capability of extending the users own technological frontiers. Polytec LLC relies heavily on system integration. Whenever possible, Polytec LLC will utilize commercially available technology. This policy allows us to access the latest technology and permits us to concentrate our resources on application and software development for the tools we manufacture.

History
Polytec, the market leader in non-contact, laser-based vibration measurement technology, has integrated THôT Technologies into Polytec LLC - Disk & Drive Measurement Solutions, a new company delivering critical and enabling metrology for next generation disk drives. Both companies have a long and prestigious history serving HDD manufacturers – Polytec through single-point and scanning laser vibrometers that enable modal, ODS and dynamic characterization and THôT through their remarkable, turn-key product line including Defect Analysis Stations to detect nano-asperities and nano-pits, Morphology Testers for disk surfaces and Spindle and Shaft Testers. THôT was founded in 1991 and acquired by Polytec in 2008.
